Another year, another City2Surf!
City2Surf is easily one of our favourite events in the Kiss Goodbye to MS calendar, and this year didn’t disappoint. Blue skies and a cold wind created amazing but freezing conditions for this year’s 14km fun run, but this of course didn’t stop our brave Kiss Goodbye to MS community!
Over 150 runners took on the course which started at Hyde Park in Sydney’s CBD, through the Eastern Suburbs, up Heartbreak Hill and finished at the iconic Bondi Beach. We can confirm first hand, that crossing the finish line with all these amazing runners from all different fitness levels who run for so many great causes, really is the best feeling ever. Despite the sore legs and hips the next day, we are already so excited for next year!
Well deserved massages by the lovely volunteers from AMBI, delicious food by the fab Pop up Picnic and cold beer and wine was waiting for our runners at the Kiss Goodbye to MS marquee. The atmosphere was buzzing as everyone arrived and we loved mingling with our Kiss Goodbye to MS runners, who again went above and beyond to fundraise for MS research.
Many new faces, and some familiar ones like our regular Canberra Running team who blew us away again this year. Each year they train in extreme weather conditions in Canberra (frozen streets and minus degrees) and this year all made it in under 60 minutes, incredible! Over the years the team have now raised over $15,000 for Kiss Goodbye to MS and it wouldn’t be the same without them.
Some new faces included the Nuzest team who joined us for the first time and raised an outstanding $12,635 for Kiss Goodbye to MS – thank you so much! And Lauren Ahern, who ran the City2Surf for her dad who’s living with MS. We closely watched Lauren’s fundraising in the lead up to the event and she absolutely smashed her initial fundraising goal of $700 by raising an amazing $1,474 for research into MS.
As always, we are so grateful for everyone’s outstanding fundraising efforts. Together you’ve raised more than $25,000 for Kiss Goodbye to MS, and once again made this a day to remember. City2Surf is such a fun and energy filled day out with our MS Squad and we can’t wait for next year – bring it on!
