City2Surf 2017: our biggest team EVER!
Perfect weather? Check. Bondi beach? Check. Incredible Kiss Goodbye to MS runners? CHECK. Yes, the 2017 City2Surf definitely did not disappoint! On Sunday 13th August, over 70,000 people took part in one of the world’s largest fun runs – and of course, Kiss Goodbye to MS was there to soak up all the action and cheer on our team.
This year, we had almost 200 runners participating in our team, making it our biggest squad to date! We were so happy to welcome everyone into our post-race marquee, which we co-hosted with the wonderful charity, Junior Diabetes Research Foundation (JDRF). Our runners were greeted at the finish line with food and drinks from the always-delicious Popup Picnic and were even treated to some deep-tissue muscle recovery from our massage therapists.
As well as delivering fast times (we heard a few PB’s were broken) our runners were also serving up some serious style in our new Kiss Goodbye to MS running singlets! In collaboration with 2XU we designed our sleek new male and female designs which were debuted on the 14km course.
With the super-quick sub-60 team coming all the way from Canberra to the 100-strong SCEGGS Darlinghurst team, we had runners of all ages and abilities taking part and we couldn’t be prouder to have such a diverse and committed community of supporters.
We would like to send a huge thank you to everyone who took part, donated to the team and dropped by to say hello on the day. So far, we have already raised over $23,000 for research into MS which is absolutely fantastic. It means so much to us to celebrate with our supporters and what better way to do so than on Bondi beach on a warm Sunday arvo (well, maybe minus the sore legs!).
We might be running away with ourselves here (excuse the pun), but applications for next year’s City2Surf will be opening very soon! If you’ve been inspired by this year’s success, make sure you get in early and help us race towards a cure in 2018.
