Emily Burke remembers her mother

Emily decided to fundraise for Kiss Goodbye to MS to remember her mother who had MS, and to raise awareness for the disease, with the added bonus of ticking off a few things from her bucket list.

“Growing up part of me knew my mum was different, I would notice her shaky hands as she wrote my name on my schoolbooks, her struggle to walk at times with her walking stick, kids at school would ask what was wrong with her and I would get looks off strangers in the street but in truth I always just saw mum. I knew no different. Despite being diagnosed at a young age and knowing her body was slowly failing… and all this while looking after three kids, despite everything her number one priority was always us, family.”

Obviously, this is a cause really close to Emily’s heart. To honour her mother Jennie Marie Burke, Emily was wearing red lippy all throughout May with the support of her workplace, and dyed her hair red as her fundraising page reached her first $2000 target. To date, Emily has raised $3700 for research into MS with the support of friends and family, and is only $300 dollars away from having to stick to her second promise, to go skydiving. What a fantastic effort!

We know that Emily’s mother would be very proud of her, and are so thankful to everyone who supported her journey this May. We want to see Emily go skydiving! You can help her reach her target and take the leap by donating on her fundraising page.
