Let's Kiss Goodbye to MS
In 2021 a family member was diagnosed with MS (Multiple Sclerosis). This news was completely unexpected, and I realised that I didn’t know enough about the disease.
So, I threw myself at understanding the disease better. I needed to learn about the symptoms, treatments and causes. I especially wanted to know how I could help and what to expect as it progresses. I then realised that despite 10 Australians being diagnosed every week (over a 100 in the UK!) and impressive leaps being made in treatment, relatively little is known about the cause and behaviour of the disease – more research is needed.
I will cycle from Perth to Adelaide and in doing so raise much needed money for Australia’s biggest MS charity – MS Australia. That’s a distance of over 2700km! To put your money into context $571 funds a dedicated PhD student researching MS for a week, whilst $61 supports a research assistant for an hour. Every bit helps.
