$76,500 raised by Megan Healey
Megan Healey has one hell of a fighting spirit. She is an amazing mum, a loving wife, and one of our longest standing supporters.
Megan has progressive MS. And, in her own words, ‘While I may be in a wheelchair, I am not going to be defined by my disability’. While some of life’s simpler things are now more of a challenge for Megan, she doesn’t let that stand in her way. In fact she created a bucket list of things she wants to achieve and the Healey family have set about to make that happen.
‘I want to show my kids that I am still fun’ Megan says.
Megan has supported Kiss Goodbye to MS since 2013, when she rode a ride on lawn mower from Melbourne to Sydney. Yes. A ride on mower. From Melbourne to Sydney! She called the ride ‘Megan’s Great MS Mowdown’ and to this day it is one of our proudest Kiss Goodbye to MS moments.
In 2015 Megan decided she was going to compete in the City2Surf, a challenge that is hard enough for the everyday person, let alone someone who uses a scooter to get around. After 14km on a hot Sydney day, Megan and her tribe crossed the finish line with huge smiles on their faces and ‘kiss’ balloons tied to their bodies.
Megan is determined (we think the Mowdown proves she’s also a little bit crazy)! She is committed to raising funds for research into MS and having some fun while she does it.
Since 2013 Megan has raised an incredible $76,500 for MS Research Australia!
The Healey family are trying to raise $100,000 for Kiss Goodbye to MS, and we have a pretty good feeling that this won’t be the last time you’re reading about Megan. To Megan, you family, your friends and your tribe of supporters – thank you. You have no idea how infectious your fighting spirit is.
